September is Emergency Preparedness Month!
Independence Now (the local Center for Independent Living) is partnering with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services to host an event where individuals with disabilities can have their emergency preparedness questions answered, participate in life-saving training, and meet their local emergency officials. The goal is to ensure that people living with disabilities feel engaged and aware of their options for emergency preparedness planning. Participants will benefit from accurate and up-to-date information on how to plan for an emergency, and agencies will provide essential information directly to people with disabilities, as speakers or as exhibitors or both.
Date: Saturday, September 14, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM
Location: Wheaton Recreation Center, 11701 Georgia Ave., in the Social Hall on the 2nd floor.
Free and open to the public.
